Yoga Time!

I have not done yoga in a few years. I do always enjoy it but it was always tough to fit in even before kids. Now with kids, it’s not always easy to find time to fit in yoga on top of my triathlon focused training and gym time. But gyms are closed and swimming is off the table for now. Melanie is really into yoga and started doing the Nike Training Club yoga in the mornings before anyone is up. She invited me to come along today so I got up early with her to do it. It was …

Downtime

One of the side effects of the pandemic is that suddenly, there isn’t as much of a reason to take PTO. A couple weeks ago I was supposed to have taken a week off for spring break. We were going to visit my parents and go to Disney. Obviously that was cancelled. I also had plans to go skiing that were cancelled. There were trips planned to Chicago for weddings and conferences too. Eventually this will all end and I won’t be able to use up all that PTO (not that I usually do) so I decided to take a …

Food Reset

I love food. Good food. Living in New Orleans I can get access to any amount of great food and not just the typical Cajun and Creole cuisine that people think of when they think of this city. We have incredible pizza, Vietnamese, Mediterranean, and the list goes on. And on top of that Melanie and I love to cook as a way to spend time together and as something we just enjoy. Festing in Place

This past weekend was supposed to be the first weekend of Jazz Fest in New Orleans which is a huge music festival that happens here. Just 500,000 of your closest friends to see amazing music and eat delicious food (I mean, it’s NOLA, what other kind of music and food is there here?) And since it’s New Orleans, even if we can’t have Jazz Fest, we’re committed to having our music and food! #festinginplace was a thing. Melanie asked me last week what one food I would most miss eating there this year and I had to go with a …

Goal Setting

It is definitely pretty tough to keep on track when everything planned has been cancelled and anything not cancelled is probably a crapshoot whether or not it will actually happen. I was scheduled to do Ironman 70.3 Chattanooga in a few weeks and I’ve had that rescheduled to next year. All of my summer race options are gone. Ironman 70.3 Texas is moved to November and I still have the Twin Cities Marathon scheduled in October. And if I’m being honest, I don’t believe either of those races will happen. And if they do, would I be comfortable toeing the …
