This year was a year of doing some completely new 70.3 races than I have in the past. I still need to do a race report for Texas 70.3 but since Steelhead is fresh on my mind, I’ll start here! This race takes place in Benton Harbor, MI and the swim is in Lake Michigan. I picked this one due to a great convergence of schedule and course. So I ran a marathon a few weeks ago. Eh, whatever…that’s old news! Time for the next event. This has been by far the best start to a year of running I’ve ever had. I ran about 56 miles in January which is below my goal for the year but I needed the time to recover from my race and the cold I got afterwards. I’m back on the road though so all is well there. So I’ve been running now for, wow, 5 years now. I haven’t put on as many miles in those 5 years as I’d like but I’d guess I’ve done around 2,000 miles total in that time. Which isn’t horrible but my goal this year is between 1,000 and 1,500 miles so I have a pretty agressive running goal this year! And I think it bears mentioning how I even got back into running.
