I never really make “resolutions” but I do always think it’s good to have goals for the year. Melanie asked me what my goals were on New Year’s Eve and I had to pause because I hadn’t put much thought into it. But it’s good to have them! So here are a few for the year: Fitness I always like setting some Time & Distance goals in Garmin In addition to those goals, I also plan to get back to some general strength training. I’d like to do an hour per week which seems very reasonable. I used to go …

One of my favorite places to run is Clearwater Beach by Pier 60 for a variety of reasons. Its beautiful there. We have a nice 13 mile loop that we run frequently. It lets us do an open water swim right after we run which is a great way to kill 2 birds with 1 stone. And then there’s the part that people probably don’t usually like other than us crazy people – the bridges. There are some truely massive bridges on the route as well as some gently rolling terrain on the back half of our 13 mile loop. …
So this past weekend was the Disney Twilight Zone Tower of Terror Ten-Miler. It was actually a whole weekend of fun when you combine it with the Orlando outlet malls before the race and then the next day we went to Epcot for the Food & Wine festival. I need to get better at taking pictures while I’m at these things but we have one or two. On to the race report though! I’ll start after we went shopping since I assume that no one wants to read about me buying shoes, shirts and shorts. (I guess I gave you …
Well I did it! I can’t believe that since November, I went from frantically realizing that I was in deep trouble for my Disney marathon to reaching a really big goal of mine, which was a sub 2:10 half marathon. Everything went about as perfect for me today as I could have hoped. My legs have felt great for weeks and I just knew I had a great run in me for today. My goal was somewhere between 2:05 and 2:10. My final time was 2:04:26 which is a huge PR (personal record for you non-runners). I PRed while training …
Well, after my last 5K a couple weeks ago I decided I wanted to another one quickly. I’ve probably over trained the past couple weeks since then and this past week I took it much easier after grinding out around 30 miles of running in an 8 or 9 day span. I had a great 6 mile run with a friend last Sunday but ever since my legs have been feeling it. I did a 2 miler on Tuesday and my right shin really hurt. Damn those shin splints. So in the interest of not aggravating that I only did …
