Clearwater Running & Fitness Festival Race Report

One of my favorite places to run is Clearwater Beach by Pier 60 for a variety of reasons.  Its beautiful there.  We have a nice 13 mile loop that we run frequently.  It lets us do an open water swim right after we run which is a great way to kill 2 birds with 1 stone.  And then there’s the part that people probably don’t usually like other than us crazy people – the bridges.  There are some truely massive bridges on the route as well as some gently rolling terrain on the back half of our 13 mile loop.  …

Space Coast Marathon 2013 Race Report

So this was it, the race that I’ve been waiting and training for nearly half of the year. It all started back in July with an urgent email telling me that the race was about to sell out. I had just joined the group of people I train with now and didn’t know if I wanted to sign up for another full marathon yet. I had done Disney in January and while I wanted to better my time from that race I just didn’t know if I wanted another less than a year later. Everyone else seemed to be doing …

TriRock Clearwater Race Report

Yesterday was the final race of my triathlon season, the Olympic distance TriRock Clearwater.  The race is run by Competitor who also run the Rock’n Roll marathon series.  TriRock is a newer addition and I think its only been around for a couple years.  I’ve been very excited about this race for 4 or so months now.  Its the first Olympic I’ve done in Tampa which meant less logistical hassle.  The course is a one that I’ve run many times while training with my friends.  And, maybe the clincher for me, the Olympic course was a dedicated course.  Every other …

IMFL 2013 Recap & Lessons Learned

Ironman Florida (IMFL) was this past weekend up in Panama City as I mentioned in my last post.  Panama City is about a 7 hour drive from Tampa which makes it a very doable race for anyone in Florida.  Since our plan is to do this race next year and it sells out pretty much immediately when registration opens (it takes just a minute) the only way to guarantee a spot was to go up and volunteer since volunteers get priority.  I’ve never even spectated a race before so this was going to be a whole new racing experience for …

Disney’s Tower of Terror Ten-Miler Race Report

So this past weekend was the Disney Twilight Zone Tower of Terror Ten-Miler. It was actually a whole weekend of fun when you combine it with the Orlando outlet malls before the race and then the next day we went to Epcot for the Food & Wine festival. I need to get better at taking pictures while I’m at these things but we have one or two. On to the race report though! I’ll start after we went shopping since I assume that no one wants to read about me buying shoes, shirts and shorts. (I guess I gave you …
